How to make a Book Cover: Faux Fur Book Cover

This is a simple and  fun book cover project.

Materials:

a paper bag (lunch size for smaller books or grocery size for larger books)

enough fabric of choice to cover a book of your size choice

scissors sharp enough to cut fabric

fabric glue

Simple assembly instructions:

#1 Cut the rectangular "bottom of bag" out of sack.  This will give you a flat piece of paper. See figure 1 below:

#2 Once you have the bag open and now have a flat piece of paper, lay your book on the open bag and cut bag 3" larger than book.  see figure 2 below:

#3 fold top and bottom of bag to make same size of the book height: see figure 3 below: tip: use book as a template for size

After you have folded the paper bag to the size of the book, the left and right folds of the book cover form a pocket for you to slip the front and back cover of your actual book into.

#4 lay the book cover flat & lay it on top of flat fabric on table top and use as a pattern to cut the fabric to same size of cover.  Cut the fabric the same size as the flat book cover folded as shown in fig. 3.

Next, slip your book into the pockets.  If necessary, use transparent tape to fortify the pocket portion of the book cover.

#4 Using fabric glue, adhere the fabric to the book cover (with book already inserted).  Generously squeeze glue around the back parameter of the fabric then match edges with the book cover and adhere.

#5 Let dry for at least an hour before using.

#6 YOU'RE DONE!  Tip:  make 3 or 4 of these and stack  them up as a decorative touch on a desktop, night stand, etc.

This also lends a hand in decorating a desktop, nightstand, etc.
